The Way Of Escape (Navigating Trials, Temptations And Challenging Situations) | 1 Corinthians 10:13
By Apostle Joshua Selman

1 Corinthians 10:13, James 1:2-3, Romans 8:28, 1 Corinthians 15:57

Regardless of what happens to you, set this at the back of your mind: You have been ordained by God, by virtue of being grafted into Christ through the new birth experience, your ordination in Christ is that you live a life of victory, dominion, and power.

God is not glorified when the saints fail.

John 17:1, Mark 4:35

The Bible teaches us that we have been called into a life of dominion. The basis of the believer's victory in this kingdom is the finished work of Christ.

Proverbs 3:7

The Bible is also very clear that there are times in the life of the believer when things may go wrong.

Psalm 20:1-2, Proverbs 24:10

Our world is full of people (very good) who have gone through, are going through, and sadly will go through one or more of the following:

  • Marital crisis
  • Career challenges
  • Sickness and infirmities
  • Demonic oppression
  • Persecution
  • Negative or unfavorable financial challenges
  • False accusation

These are sometimes the realities, and it’s not always an issue of being evil.

From Abraham, Sarah, the nation of Israel even.

Even Jesus, who was without sin, still died Romans 6:23.

Luke 7:11-12

For the believer, challenges are not unusual, but when they overwhelm you to the point of defeat, that is when it is unusual

6 keys that will help you navigate - ways of escape

Ecclesiastes 3:1

  1. You must fix your eyes on Jesus as the surest form of deliverance Psalm 62:1, Psalm 68:20, Psalm 34:1-8

Never allow Satan to make you hate God when you don’t understand Him. In fixing your eyes on Jesus, you must trust His presence.

Fix your eyes and mind on Jesus - no matter what happens.

    Isaiah 26:23

  2. Commit yourself to consistent prayer. The worst time to stop praying is when you are in trouble James 5:13, Philippians 4:6-7.

One of the blessings you get from the place of prayer is the peace of God Psalm 107:19-20.

You have the responsibility to engage in strategic warfare in the place of prayer. It is in the place of prayer that the Holy Ghost will reveal to you any access point or any legal ground the enemy has used or is using to attack you.

    Ecclesiastes 10:8, 2 Corinthians 2:10-11

There are 3 principal access points that Satan uses to enter into the life of men

    1. Disobedience
    2. Ignorance
    3. Covenant

Jesus is God, and God in operation is multifaceted - it is good to trust in God, but when you trust in God, hinge it on an attribute of Him that concerns the miracle you are looking for.

  3. Meditate on the Word of God and speak it as an escape.

    Isaiah 26:10, Joel 3:10, Isaiah 3:10, Psalm 107:2, Matthew 4:4

  4. Seek comfort, godly counsel, prayers, and support from the larger family of believers - mature Christians, Godly friends, pastors, and ministers of the gospel. There is a dimension of escape and deliverance that depends on your connection to and with the larger body of believers Acts 4:21-24, Philippians 1:19.

Living an isolated Christian life, whether through ignorance or pride, will not profit you in the day of adversity.

If you want to enjoy the ministry of believers, you must sow seeds of kindness and love.

  5. Keep your joy alive and active Nehemiah 8:10, Habakkuk 3:17-18

Listen to the message the principle of restoration

There are times where the trouble you are facing was caused by your carelessness, ignorance, or violation of God’s principle. At that point, it’s not just enough to shrug it off and say, “It doesn’t matter, God just deliver me,” no! When you learn from mistakes, you accelerate yourself from that position faster. Examine yourself.

That’s how the prodigal son got out.

No matter what happens, don’t allow the devil to kill your joy.

  6. Engage the prophetic

There is a prophetic dimension as far as your deliverance from negative situations is concerned.

The prophetic can help you know the will of God and provide a way of escape.

There are 3 ways to know the will of God

    1. The written word
    2. The revelatory ministry of the Holy Spirit
    3. The prophetic

The prophetic, under the influence of faith and the anointing, can create a way of escape.
